Welcome to Counter’s Tutoring Connection! My name is Jennifer Counter, and I’m the founder of Counter’s Tutoring Connection, a tutoring company specializing in teaching students of all ages in the Houston area. I started CTC because I wanted to combine my previous business experience, and utilize my passion for teaching. My team and I've had the honor of working with students from an array of schools from Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Lamar Consolidated ISD, Cyfair ISD, Fulshear ISD, Houston ISD, Brookshire ISD, Alief ISD, and various private schools and home school organizations. When I tell you that being a teacher is my life’s work, it is- it’s heart work for me. I believe that anyone can learn and everyone has something to give, and I’m so grateful I found my something. I employ certified teachers who have a passion for teaching, who love kids, and who want to help others succeed. Who they are and what we do is the motto of my company: Empower. Educate. Excel. 

I was a classroom teacher for 10 years and my experience has taught me that the most successful teachers are the ones that know how to connect with their students. Children and youth crave what we all do- someone who will listen to us, someone who will help us when we don’t understand, and someone who will believe in us. For years, I was a mentor teacher, working with student teachers from The University of Houston, and I would always tell those young eager college students “You can be the most knowledgeable teacher, but if these kids don’t know you care for them, they will never learn anything from you. But if you connect with them, they will learn everything from you.” I believe in that. I believe it’s about the connection you make. Our company is offering your child that connection. That’s why that word is in my company name. It’s the foundation of who we are and what we do. Being a teacher is one of the best gifts life has ever given me and I never loose sight of that when I meet a new anxious student, talk with an overwhelmed parent, or train a new aspiring tutor. 

I don’t believe we are all the same or that we all learn the same, and so my company treats every student individually. We assess where your child is: We listen to you, the parent. We also work diligently to identify your child’s weakness, so we can improve on those areas and we identify their strengths, so we can build on them too. This is not a worksheet program. This is not solely a computer-based approach to learning. This is a customized, one on one, individual assessment and learning plan. We want nothing less than for your child to gain confidence in their own abilities, take charge of their learning, and succeed in their school work.
