Little steps lead to big victories: New beginnings are universal. This is Sasha. He is a sweet little 5 year old boy and one of my company’s newest ESL students. I’ve been tutoring him and his brother Nikita, 3 times a week, for the last month. It’s been a real pleasure getting to know this family.Experience has taught me that wanting what’s best for our children is universal. They just arrived in the U.S. last month from Russia, and I admire how diligently both boys are working to learn our English language, numbers, words, & customs/holidays.Today for the first time: Sasha was able to independently and from memory, write and say his numbers 1 through10, as well as write and say most of the alphabet in English. This is a big victory for such a little person. He was so proud of himself! No words were needed for me to understand what that smile on his face meant. Hope is universal. I gave him a high five and said “good job” in Russian “отличная работа” and then again in English. We ended our session and he brought me a handful of snowflakes that he’d cut out just for me. Then he hugged me and said “Спасибо” and “thank you” in English- just as I’d modeled for him so many times. Kindness is universal. I’m feeling so blessed for all the opportunities my company affords me- for the chance to help others on their own journey.Gratitude is universal.
We'd love to hear what you think
